High-Temperature Probes

A deep-sea temperature-logging instrument made of Type 5 and Type 2 Titanium components rated to 6000 m operating depth (4,500 m certified for use in deep-sea submersibles). The MISO hi-T logger is designed to acquire long term (1-2 year) records of vent fluid temperatures from hydrothermal vents in deep-sea environments like mid-ocean ridges over temperature ranges from 0°C to 450°C (Onset UX100-014M logger), and instrument attitude sensing to correlate with temperature measurements (Lowell MAT-1 logger). Replaceable tips (available with either J-type or T-type thermocouples) are designed to easily connect using 2-pin Subconn MCBH2M connectors to a mating female connector on the logger housing. The syntactic foam handle and plastic manipulator grip provide buoyancy to counteract the weight of the housing so that once inserted into a hydrothermal vent orifice the logger is slightly negative and will remain lodged in the vent.
